Awareness Still a Problem with Mobile Wallet, Says Square’s Dorsey

Square CEO Jack Dorsey, speaking about Square’s ongoing partnership with Starbucks described consumer awareness as a hurdle for mobile payments. Starbucks does little traditional marketing which means retail’s biggest mobile payments evangelist isn't spreading the word as much as it could.

Small Business Management - Chase adds receipt capture to it’s Jot mobile app

Chase has added a feature to its Jot app that allows small business cardholders to capture and file receipts using their mobile phone cameras.

The mobile app and online tool Jot sends small business owners a push alert within seconds of making a purchase with their Ink from Chase card. With the receipt capture feature, customers simply take a photo of a receipt with their mobile camera and attach it to purchases made with an Ink card.

Customers can then sort transactions, download and print receipts online and create and download reports containing purchases and receipts into accounting software, including QuickBooks and Excel.

“Log In with PayPal” - Product Demo

PayPal has released a revision to its PayPal Access service called “Log In with PayPal:.

PayPal says that this revision provides a new “commerce identity system” that allows account holders to use a single PayPal identification not only to authorize their identity when logging into a website, but also to pay for purchases on e-commerce sites that accept PayPal as a payment method.

Log In provides user identification, as well as all necessary payment credentials, for making a purchase.

What Apple’s Information Win Means for all of eCommerce

“On February 4, the California Supreme Court issued its much-anticipated opinion Apple Inc. v. Superior Court, ruling that Apple’s request for telephone number and address information from customers in connection with the purchase of electronic downloads on its iTunes service — which reached its 25 billionth song download yesterday — does not violate California law. Specifically, the Court ruled that California’s Song-Beverly Credit Card Act of 1971 “does not apply to online purchases in which the product is downloaded electronically.”
