The Future of Money

Denmark is set to become the first cash-free society in the world. This is the basis behind the Copenhagen Finance IT Region’s project. This is the vision behind their project that examines the potential for mobile payments, payment cards and other digital payment platforms. Future Money will present exciting deliverables and thereby help moving Denmark in a more cashless direction.

The Future of Money project has set up a laboratory with six scenarios where one can test future payment options. These scenarios are Retail, Parking, Ticket, Events, Person-to-Person and Restaurant

Partners in the project are the Danske Bank, Nets, IBM, Cellpoint Mobile, Copenhagen Business School and Innovation Lab.

The project has just completed its work, with its report having been released this week. The main findings are that consumers are ready for mobile payments, but that does not mean they will use mobiles for payments.

The following series of videos sets out details of the project and the findings.

Anette Broløs, CEO of CFIR, tells what Copenhagen Finance IT Region (CFIR) is and what the Future of Money Project is all about.
